Although the EMU Trike® has been designed to be practically maintenance free, there are a few things that you can do to prevent the need for repairs and or replacing parts. Please be sure to read all of the information below to help you get the most life out of your EMU Trike™.
PLEASE READ THE IMPORTANT BATTERY SAFETY, CARE AND INSTRUCTIONS BELOW:
Taking care of your Pneumatic Tires:
We use pneumatic (air) tires instead of solid rubber tires because air tires absorb shock better and therefore offer a more comfortable ride. To ensure rider safety and comfort, all tires on the EMU Trike® should be at 35psi.
As with any air-filled tire, there may be times when they get punctured by debris (such as nails). Unlike other scooters, our two-rear tires have what we call ‘split-rim’ wheels. This means that when you need to change the inner tube or tire, you no longer have to struggle to pull and pry them off of the wheel. The ‘split-rim’ wheel that sits inside of the tire/tube is able to be split apart, allowing the tire/tube to be removed and replaced easily and quickly. Step-by-step instructions for changing the rear-tires are posted below.
Note: Unlike other scooters or bikes, the EMU Trike® does not require you to periodically lubricate the wheel bearings, as our wheel bearings are self-lubricating and sealed for protection from the elements.
